About Me

In the summer of 2016 I retired from the Army after 21 years on active duty. I was an NCO and my career was split between the infantry and recruiting. I really hated recruiting too, When my twenty came I knew I wanted to do something totally different. Turn out that doing something totally different is easier said than done.

When I retired a lot of the career advice encouraged the belief that your soft skills / leadership skills learned in your military career would be all that you needed to land a 6 figure job. In my experience, nothing is further from the truth. Your success has nothing to do with “optimizing your LInkedin Profile” or whatever they tell you in TAPS it is all about your hard skills. I would love to hire a Salesforce developer that is a good leader. But you have to be a developer first.

I stumbled in Salesforce and coding and never looked back. I think that veterans have a huge amount to offer the tech industry because of their soft skills.
